What Do You Want to Be Known For

Hi, my creatives! Happy Friday!! So sorry about the delay. It's been heavy on the chaos over Curated Chaos HQ. With the new year approaching I’ve been doing a LOT of reflecting and wanted to dissect this idea that I’ve been playing with and offer y'all a bit of a journal prompt.

I won’t speak for everyone but it’s a CRAZY time right now. For everybody. Whether it’s international affairs that genuinely keep you up at night because it feels so above you or just things in your personal life- the holidays coming up, family being bonkers, you’re reflecting on what all needs to get done or how you want to change this year…. I get it.

One thing I’ve been thinking about just in general but especially in the context of the new year is the question: What do I want to be known for? I tend to ask my clients this question, and I think it’s brilliant in terms of narrowing down a “niche” for yourself online but I think it gives you a broader understanding of your “why”

Your why is simply that- why do you create, why do you want to post online, why do you want this to be your career? And I beg every creator to have a bigger why than the money and the attention from posting. This is why the question “What do you want to be known for” sort of gives you more to work with. I believe this helps you narrow down what your purpose is.

I realized that by answering this question, I am conflating what I do with what I want to be known for…. they are not the same! I know I want to be known for having great ideas and creating bomb content (what I do) but I also want to be known for being kind and loving to the people around me, I want to be known for having the best advice, being wise beyond my years etc…

So many things I discovered within myself came out after asking this question. (So much so I am shifting my ENTIRE business/ creative strategy- more on this at a later date) And I think it’s important that we ask these big questions, give ourselves the space and security to answer honestly… and then follow through.

So this week, I want you to take some time to think through what you want to be known for. It's journal time!

Pull out a journal and free-write! If you’re unfamiliar- free writing is maybe one of my favorite tools for self-discovery. You’re going to set a timer and just write. The goal is not to let your pen leave the paper.

At the top of your journal, I want you to write the question:

“What do I want to be known for”  Set a timer for 10 minutes and see what comes out. From there I want you to take a step back.

  • Are you embodying this version of yourself right now?

  • If you’re not, are you doing what you can to begin to embody it?

  • What changes or adjustments do you need to make?

  • Was your “why” what you thought it was?

If you haven’t already given yourself time to reflect on this past year I HIGHLY suggest you do so soon BEFORE January so you can enter the new year on a clean slate!!

How are you all feeling about the new year? I’m excited! There are lots of changes on the horizon- let me know what you end up with post-journaling and what that revelation may bring!!

Much love <3
